FAQ

What is Masa Mail?

Masa Mail is a monthly recipe mail subscription that delivers a thoughtfully designed recipe, the cultural history behind the dish, and collectible paper goods directly to your mailbox.

Each edition is created to help preserve family recipes, food traditions, and the stories that connect us to home.

What comes in each Masa Mail delivery?

Each monthly Masa Mail envelope includes a featured recipe, the story or history behind the dish, and coordinating collectible paper goods.

Contents may vary by month and may include recipe cards, postcards, illustrations, cultural notes, kitchen keepsakes, or other small surprises.

Is Masa Mail a recipe subscription box?

Masa Mail is a recipe-by-mail subscription rather than a traditional food subscription box.

We mail printed recipes, stories, and collectible paper goods. Food and perishable ingredients are not included unless specifically stated in a special edition.

How does the Masa Mail subscription work?

When you subscribe, you are enrolled in a recurring monthly mail club.

Your subscription renews automatically each month until you cancel. Every month, we create a new recipe mailer and send it directly to the mailing address provided at checkout.

What is the monthly order cutoff?

The cutoff to receive the upcoming month’s Masa Mail edition is the 25th of the month.

For example, subscribe by July 25 to receive the August edition.

Orders placed after the cutoff will begin with the following month’s mailing.

When does Masa Mail ship?

United States orders generally ship during the week of the 25th.

International orders may begin shipping around the 20th to allow additional time for delivery.

Exact mailing dates may vary slightly depending on weekends, holidays, printing schedules, and postal service conditions.

When will my first Masa Mail arrive?

Your first delivery depends on when you subscribe.

If you subscribe on or before the monthly cutoff date, you will receive the upcoming edition. If you subscribe after the cutoff, your subscription will begin with the following month’s edition.

United States delivery may take approximately 5 to 10 business days after mailing. International delivery can take several weeks depending on the destination and local postal service.

Is shipping included?

Shipping options and rates are shown at checkout.

United States and international shipping prices may differ because of postage costs and delivery times.

Do you ship Masa Mail internationally?

Yes. Masa Mail can be shipped internationally to available destinations.

International mail may take longer to arrive and can occasionally experience customs or postal delays. Tracking may not be included with standard letter-mail delivery.

Does Masa Mail include tracking?

Most Masa Mail editions are sent as standard letter mail to keep the subscription affordable.

Standard letter mail may not include tracking. When tracking is available or included with a special product, it will be stated in the product description or shipping confirmation.

What happens if my Masa Mail is lost or delayed?

Postal delays can happen, especially with international mail, holidays, severe weather, or high-volume mailing periods.

Please allow additional delivery time before contacting us. If your order still has not arrived after a reasonable period, reach out with your name, order information, and mailing address so we can review the situation.

Can I purchase Masa Mail as a gift?

Yes. Masa Mail makes a thoughtful gift for home cooks, food lovers, recipe collectors, and anyone interested in Latin food history and culture.

Enter the recipient’s mailing address at checkout. Gift subscriptions and special gift options may also be offered separately.

Can I buy past Masa Mail editions?

Past recipe mailers may occasionally be available in limited quantities.

Because each edition is produced in small batches, previous months can sell out and are not guaranteed to be restocked.

Can I skip a month?

Subscription management options depend on the plan selected.

Log in to your customer account or use the subscription-management link provided in your email to view available options. Please make changes before the monthly renewal and cutoff date whenever possible.

How do I cancel my Masa Mail subscription?

You can cancel through your customer account or subscription-management link.

Cancel before your next renewal date to prevent the following month’s charge. Canceling stops future renewals but does not automatically cancel or refund an order that has already been processed.

Can I change my mailing address?

Yes. Update your mailing address through your account before the monthly cutoff.

If an edition has already been prepared or mailed, we may not be able to redirect it. Masa Mail is not responsible for orders delivered to an address that was entered incorrectly or updated after fulfillment began.

Are subscriptions refundable?

Because Masa Mail is created and prepared in limited monthly batches, processed subscription payments are generally nonrefundable.

Contact us promptly if you believe you were charged in error. Damaged, missing, or incorrect orders will be reviewed individually.

Are the recipes tested?

We aim to provide clear, carefully researched recipes. However, ingredients, equipment, altitude, climate, and cooking methods can affect results.

Please review all ingredients and cooking instructions before beginning.

Does Masa Mail accommodate food allergies?

Masa Mail does not prepare or ship the finished food, but recipes may contain or reference common allergens such as dairy, eggs, wheat, peanuts, tree nuts, soy, seafood, or sesame.

Customers are responsible for reviewing ingredients, making safe substitutions, and avoiding anything that may cause an allergic reaction.

Are the recipes authentic?

Masa Mail celebrates the many regional, family, and historical variations that exist within Latin cooking.

There is rarely only one “correct” version of a traditional dish. We research each edition with care while honoring the fact that recipes evolve across families, communities, regions, and generations.

Who creates Masa Mail?

Masa Mail is created by a couple combining backgrounds in research, video production, storytelling, e-commerce, marketing, design, and product creation.

Together, we research the history, develop the storytelling, design the website and physical mail pieces, and assemble each monthly edition.

Why is it called Masa Mail?

“Masa” represents the foundation of many beloved dishes, but it also reflects something shaped by hand, tradition, memory, and care.

Masa Mail was created to celebrate recipes as more than instructions. Every recipe carries a story, and we mail both.
